Barefoot Gallery Concept
All activities, which in one form or the other relate to dance, may receive attention and a chance here. Our traditions (since 1912) form a strong bond between ourselves and all contemporary creative dancers. 0Our cooperation with them in the past years has been very fruitful.
The best forum for these activities must be the place where they were created -
within the walls of a dancing institution, in the spaces of the Barefoot Gallery, in staircases, halls, clubs, where we are glad to show dance-related expositions of different artists.

BALANCING ON THE BORDER BETWEEN FANTASY AND REALITY
September 25 - November 1, 2004
How boring literature would be and how little we would know about the world, if we only read encyclopaedias, scientific papers, or the like. If we did not have novels, short stories, or fairy tales and plays, that is if we did not have authors,
stories born in the fantasy of artists, fairy tale tellers, landscapes beyond the seven seas, imaginary characters, never told dialogues: we would know much less about the real world. In photography we encounter a similar situation; although it is highly important and to be appreciated to document events, historical moments as they happen in real time, we can show decisive moments of our life, the relation between body and soul much more sensitively with subjective photography directed by our fantasy. The photographer would like to speak with a clearer voice, to make his formulations more exact and show more of the real thing. For this he permanently needs more tools, therefore he is experimenting constantly., refining his methods and language all the time. This is what I do constantly myself, balancing on the hazardous border between reality and fantasy.(Eifert János)

János Eifert Photographer Body and Dance Photography Workshop, Exhibition by the participants of the Workshop
(Program organized by the Association of Hungarian Photo Artists )
Exhibition of the workshop's pictures in the Movement Artists' Barefoot Studio
June 3 - September 14, 2005
The participants were not professionals, meaning they do not make a living of photography, but still they are above the amateur category.
Aim of the workshop is to give the participants ideas how to proceed. Our first subject was theory. We tried to place the photography of the nude and dance within arts, based on the work of great artists before our time.
Next time we experimented with the different positioning of the nude, with the assistance of a model, and simple tools - available to anybody - like a halogen light, household plastic sheets, fore- and backgrounds produced by diapositive projectors.
The third time we enjoyed in the MMS the cooperation of professional dancers in big space, the photographing of the free movement of the dancers.
The next time we shall - among other things - light the model with 4o candles also using fan-blown ribbons.
János Eifert's personality is in itself the warranty of the high level quality of the program, being one of the most appreciated photo artists in Hungary.
The exposition renders a true picture of the individual views of the participants.

Erika Szentgyörgyi, painter's exhibition "Flamenco". I dance the Andalusian "Flamenco", myself which is the subject of my paintings, and experience the feeling of it. I like the movements on my pictures internally, The importance of these pictures are not the form of the movements depicted but the condition out of which these movements have to be born.

In the first moment we might think, that my art is about grasping dance and fleeting movements. I am however interested in the forces and energies working under the forms on the surface.
I dance the Andalusian Flamenco of my pictures myself, and live the feeling of it. I use in my paintings the requisites of dance, the undulating skirts, scarves, which form the torrentous shapes around themselves. My technique is characterized by layers. Ecolin on top of oil-pastel forms a cracking surface, this cracking surface in itself results in a vibrating impression of endless movement.
My pictures show besides constant change also the possibility of transfiguration, on some of the pictures we seem to see not women, but living creatures halfway birds, halfway flowers, flames, or darkening shadows.

"Moving"
Exhibition of Péter Siklós Photo Artist
The world of theatre is always a challenge for a photographer , where he has to adjust to existing conditions (light, movement) and shoot pictures for eternity, which render the same sensation, which I felt in the 1 More Movement Theatre. My pictures of the Berczik Etudes and the Blue Danube Valse performances shown here were shot in traditional black and white and coloured later.
